Agra celebrated the re-opening of its Karasburg retail branch on Friday, 27 June. This is the second Agra branch that celebrates re-opening after being upgraded this year, after Rehoboth re-opened in March. As with every branch re-opening, the event included a radio outside broadcast, free hampers for clients who bought for more than N$500, giveaways and lots of specials on a huge variety of products.Screenshot_2021-05-13_at_09.30.52.png

The branch moved back to the original building from where it was trading until 2004, when a strategic decision was taken to move to a smaller building and rent out the bigger facilities. This branch has however since then started to outgrow its space. The growth in economy in the south and consequent bigger needs of Agra’s expanding clientele as well as the popularity of Agra’s products and unbeatable month-end specials, urged Agra not only to move back to the bigger building but carry out other improvements as well. These include a salt shed and fodder shed that are being built, canopies at the containers, and the livestock offices were moved back to the branch building.Screenshot_2021-05-13_at_09.31.10.png

The bigger space allows for more shelves that can accommodate more products and bulk packaging. More space between the shelves, two additional pay points and good lighting inside the store increases the quality of service delivery and ensures a pleasant shopping experience. The outside of the building also received a facelift.Screenshot_2021-05-13_at_09.31.27.png

“I have been to South Africa recently and visited some of Agra’s counterparts, and I can say with confidence that Agra’s facilities are world-class,” said Tobie Barlow, Operations Manager: Agra Retail, in an interview with Channel 7 who hosted the outside broadcast on Friday. In another interview Agra’s General Manager: Retail and Wholesale, Arnold Klein mentioned Agra’s growth and other major projects that Agra is currently undertaking: Agra is upgrading its Opuwo branch to the cost of N$11 million; building a new Agra property in the Lafrenz Industrial Park and Agra’s biggest project yet is the upgrade of the Auas Valley Shopping Mall, an investment of just more than N$100 million. Agra board member and representative in the south, Leon van Wyk thanked Agra’s clients and stated that “the continued support of our clients is definitely one of the factors that enable Agra to grow and continue to deliver a better service and give back to the communities”.

Clients who shop at Agra Karasburg for N$500 or more qualify for the revamp competition where clients will win Agra vouchers to the value of N$2 000 every Friday until the end of July and on Friday, 1 August, one lucky winner will receive Agra vouchers to the value of N$5 000.
