CENTRAL SELECT AUCTION
Published: 16 Sep 2013
The Central Select auction hosted by Agra on 12 September can be marked as one of the highlights of the stud auction season. The breeders of the Central Select group, Porta Brahman, Omateva Limousin, Silversand Charolais and Kamab Simbra were very happy with the outcome of the auction. It was a cheerful evening auction with lots of applauses for deals closed on 24 bulls which sold for an average of N$39 292 and the highest price of N$112 000 paid for a Simbra bull.
Fourteen (14) Simbra bulls from Kamab Simbra were sold at an average price of N$47 857. The two most expensive bulls were also from this stud with one bull selling for N$112 000 to Barry Farming, while PJ du Plessis paid N$90 000 for another bull and 7 more Kamab Simbra bulls sold for N$40 000 or more each. Porta Brahman of Fred and Uta Redecker sold 7 Brahman bulls for an average of N$26 714 with the highest price of N$32 000 and three Limosin bulls of Siggi Wilckens sold for an average price of N$28 667 and a highest price of N$31 000.
Diethelm and Katja Metzger who sold the most expensive bulls were overjoyed with this auction which they described as ‘our best yet, exceeding our expectations”. The average price for their Simbra bulls at this auction was more than the average for the 2011 and 2012 Simbra auctions in South Africa and Namibia, which were R31 700 and R28 700 respectively. The price of N$112 000 was also the highest price paid in 2013 for a Simbra bull.
Agra livestock stud services is very happy with the auction and remains proud to be of service to breeders and buyers who are not deterred by the current drought, in their strive to breed and achieve the best genetic material.
