AGRA CELEBRATES 36 YEARS OF CREATING PROSPERITY FOR ALL NAMIBIANS

On Thursday, 25 August 2016, Agra celebrated 36 years of existence in Namibia at all Agra branches countrywide with birthday specials and promotions. The birthday celebrations followed a great milestone, the opening of Agra’s 20th retail branch in Rundu.

The traditional cutting of the cake took place at Agra Hyper @ Lafrenz and Agra Auas Valley on the same day. As always, Agra’s clients joined the celebrations at all branches countrywide to get their share of the birthday cake. In Windhoek, Agra suppliers including Feedmaster, Agrinet, Bokomo, Inkukukaya Modular Coops, Marathon Sugar, Sabat, Castrol, Ruwag Power point and Battery Zone also joined the celebrations with their product exhibitions, while providing expert advice to clients at Agra Hyper @ Lafrenz Centre in Lafrenz Industrial Area. There were lots of foods and drinks, with a typical Namibian braai and jumping castles for the young ones.

Over the past 36 years, Agra has grown to be a trusted pillar in the Namibian agriculture sector, playing an essential role by providing specialised agriculture services and farming inputs to relevant stakeholders. And in an increasingly competitive environment, Agra continues to add value to the lives, farms and homes of a large and diverse customer base across Namibia.

Arnold Klein, Agra CEO paid special tribute to the loyal Agra clients for their continued support carrying the company through challenging times. “Allow me to use this opportunity to thank our customers who make it possible for Agra to grow our business in Namibia, thereby providing more sustainable job opportunities and contributing positively to the local economy.” He continued by sharing his gratitude towards all Agra employees as he said, “Today, we are celebrating results of planning, research and hard work. This is quite an accomplishment which would not have been possible without the energy and commitment of our incredible team. Your dedication and continued efforts in serving our diverse customer base in a professional way resulted in Agra going from strength to strength.” He continued, “I wish to thank all Agra employees for their hard work. With a competent team behind me, I am confident that Agra will accomplish even more in years to come."

Agra reflects on 36 eventful years as a proudly Namibian company,    rooted in agriculture and serving the entire community. Agra implemented a strategy to diversify its business interests in non-agricultural investments, to counteract the cyclical nature of agriculture with steady income not entirely dependent on the weather conditions. The business has grown tremendously with more than 4,000 shareholders, about 830 employees, 20 branches countrywide and an annual turnover of over N$ 2.3 billion.

Besides bringing farming necessities and many more products to the doorstep of many citizens, Agra has for many years already hosted farmer’s days and information lectures countrywide to impart knowledge to the farmers. At the same time, Agra through its ProVision division hosts various training courses to empower farmers on how to improve on their productivity.
