The new NAFOLA kraals

NAFOLA stands for the sustainable Management of Namibia’s Forested Lands and is a Global Environment Fund (GEF) funded project and its objective is to reduce pressure on forest resources by facilitating the gazettement of Community Forests, and increasing the capacity for the uptake of agriculture, livestock and forestry management practices in the community forest areas. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

It is envisaged that through better rangeland management and better production methods the quality and off-take of cattle will be increased in the area, thereby uplifting the lively hoods of the communities of the Otjombinde constituency in the Omaheke region.
Apart from training and mentoring programs new upmarket auction facilities had to be constructed and NAFOLA put out a tender for construction of such.

Agra ProVision together with M Redecker consulting Engineers was contracted to develop the plans for the upgrading or construction of new auction kraals in The Omaheke and Otjozondjupa regions for the UNDP / NAFOLA Project. The requests and ideas of the different regions were incorporated in the final plans and NAFOLA decided to start off with the Tallismanus facilities where construction has started in February 2016.

Regular site visits have been undertaken since then and progress has been documented.
The Otjombinde (Tallismanus) community is very excited about the new complex and other constituencies urgently request similar facilities.
