Agra cares: Outjo branch helps disabled children

Already two disabled children in Outjo received wheelchairs, thanks to a project run by a local church in which Outjo’s Agra branch are also taking part in.

If everything goes according to plan, another eight disabled children will benefit from this initiative, called the Wheelchair Project for Children in Outjo. In December the Agra Staff Initiative Fund (ASIF) committee made a certain amount of money available to Agra branches countrywide, as part of our Christmas Drive Campaign. The Agra Staff Initiative Fund (ASIF) was established and is sustained with donations from compassionate Agra employees who feel strongly about making a difference in the Namibian community.

In December, each branch could use their own discretion on how the money should be used to help those that are in dire need and less privilaged.

Agra’s Outjo branch decided they wanted do something special with the allocated money and raised even more funds to help the less privileged and those suffering from disabilities. This, in turn, went hand in hand with our theme for 2017, namely “The Year of the Disabled”.

They decided to sponsor little Grace with a wheelchair and now in March, Benziane also received a wheelchair. She is the second beneficiary of this project.

The branch is still working towards obtaining more wheelchairs in order to assist at least eight disabled children in the community that is suffering from disabilities. Furthermore, they are also asking people to donate used prams, which will be given to mothers with disabled children.
